We have 3 different types of shampoo formula's which have different benefits depending on your dread stage or hair type. Lock Up Fast is recommended if you have new dreads or oily/silky hair type, this formula is also incredibly good if you are wishing to start freeform dreads. Naturally Knot is recommended if you have mature dreads or a dry hair type. Colour Care is recommended if you dye your dreadlocks and want to preserve the colour or if you have damaged hair.
What is the best product to tighten dreadlocks?
Lock Up Fast dreadlock shampoo is the best product to tighten your dreadlocks. It accelerates the maturing process and tightens your locs with every wash. Using Lock Up Fast dreadlock shampoo is far more effective than any type of tightening spray for tightening your dreads. Our SmoovV dreadlock gel can also assist in tightening your locs.
I have a dry scalp - what do you recommend?
Our Dread Juice Moisture Mist which is a leave-on moisturising spray that is easily absorbed into the scalp without leaving greasy residue. If your scalp is extremely dry and you need something more intense then we recommend our Dread Nectar Oil Elixir which is used as a pre-shampoo treatment.
How often should I wash my dreadlocks?
As often as you need to! We usually recommend washing weekly or within a day or 2 of flaking or itching starting - this is a sign that you need to clean your scalp. You may have heard from various sources that you shouldn't wash dreads very often but this is a myth, usually based around the idea that some say it makes dreadlocks come undone. As our dreadlock shampoo's are designed to assist the locking process the opposite actually occurs. Clean hair dreads best and washing regularly with Dreadlocks Naturally shampoo's will tighten your locks with every wash.
Should I condition my dreadlocks?
We generally only recommend conditioning once your dreadlocks are mature, if you need to, and using dread safe products to do so. Our Dread Juice Moisture Mist and Dread Nectar Oil Elixir are 2 great products for this. Our SmoovV dreadlock gel is good for adding a bit of moisture to new dreadlocks.
Where's the tightening spray?
We don't sell tightening spray as we don't believe it's that effective or needed if you are using a good quality dreadlock shampoo. Our number 1 tightening product is our Lock Up Fast dreadlock shampoo - the name says it all - it'll get your dreads tight and tidy in no time!
I have synthetic dreadlocks - what do you recommend?
Our products are safe to use with synthetic dreadlocks. If you have a temporary braid in style then we recommend our Synthetic Braid In Dread Care Combo Pack.
